Daniele Balsyte is a Lithuanian-born, UK-based photographer currently residing in Portsmouth. In 2024, she graduated with a BA in Photography from the University of Portsmouth, where her focus shifted from fashion photography to a contemporary documentary approach. Daniele’s work explores socio-political issues, with a primary focus on the crises in Palestine. Artist challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about societal structures and their impact on individuals and communities.
In addition to her politically focused projects, Daniele is also exploring more personal themes in her work. The complexity and beauty of the world are central to her creative process, driving her to capture intimate moments of her life. Her current work-in-progress reflects on the shifting concept of home after leaving your birthplace, delving into themes of love, identity, immigration, family history, and the lasting influence of Sovietism on Lithuania’s cultural landscape and collective identity.
