10 Minutes is a minimalist sound and time-based installation exploring the cyclical nature of a femicide.
Every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed by a family member or intimate partner. In 2023, nearly 85,000 women and girls were intentionally killed worldwide. Of these, 60 per cent – an average of 140 lives every day – were taken by those closest to them. These figures reveal not only individual tragedies but also deep-rooted systemic issues in society that often go unnoticed.
This installation was created for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The artist seeks to draw attention to this harrowing reality, honour the victims of domestic violence, and encourage society to reflect more deeply on women’s rights and safety issues.
